LCR-1
Load Control Interface Relay

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

Click photo for larger view The LCR-1 load control interface relay is designed to allow interconnection of utility load management receivers and customer-owned equipment involved in a load management program. The LCR-1's 2-wire input provides a +24VDC sense (wetting) voltage source which is switched by the load management receiver or other sending device, and returned to the LCR-1. When the +24VDC voltage is sensed, the LCR-1's relay is energized closing the normally-open contacts and opening the normally-closed contacts. The LCR-1 contains a 3-Wire Form "C" output (Common, Normally Open, & Normally Closed) capable of switching up to 3 Amps.

The LCR-1 has a built-in low voltage transformer isolated power supply and may be used with meters having mechanical output contacts (relays), or high or low voltage semiconductor outputs.

Typical applications include interfaces between utility load management devices and customer-owned energy control systems, or customer appliances or electrical equipment to be controlled by the utility.

A Bright Red LED lamp displays the system's status at all times thus allowing a rapid check of the system's performance without requiring any additional test equipment. The LCR-1's input and output circuit's terminal strip is a "EURO" type connector strip. When the stripped wire has been correctly installed in the terminals "slot" no conductive parts are exposed on the surface of the terminal strip. The "Common" terminal of the LCR-1's output is fused to prevent damage to the relay under almost any conditions a user might cause such as excessive current, incorrect wiring, etc. The LCR-1 has built-in transient protection for the relay's contacts which eliminates the need for external or off-the-board transient suppressors.

All component parts which have power applied to them, with the exception of the input/output terminal strip are enclosed in a polycarbonate cover for maximum protection. The mounting base plate is also made of polycarbonate and offers excellent electrical insulation between the circuit and the mounting surface.
